Termination Instructions: GORE® Ethernet Cables & Carlisle Octax® Connector System
Technical Information, Stati Uniti
W. L. Gore & Associates developed the following procedures based on our best practices for terminating our 4-pair Ethernet cables for Cat6A protocol with the Carlisle Octax® Connector System, plug and socket versions. By following these steps, you can maximize your assembly’s performance when connected to avionics and vectronics.
Please note: While these Termination Instructions offer a helpful guide, they should always be used alongside current connector system manufacturing instructions for best results.
About the Termination Instructions
These Termination Instructions are intended solely for terminating Gore's 4-pair Cat6A Ethernet cables with the plug and socket versions of the Carlisle Octax® Connector System. They first detail the tools and materials you'll need, which include:
- Needle nose pliers, scalpel, tweezer scissors, hand strippers and cutters
- Crimpers (M22520/2-01)
- Socket positioner (K41)
- Pin positioner (K-42)
- Copper foil tape (3M-3313)
Preparing the cable and parts and terminating the socket connector (Termination A) and plug connector (Termination B), closing the connectors, and performing required testing are all covered thoroughly with easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions and visual aids, like photos and illustrations, to help you ensure proper termination.
Performing Required Testing
After both connectors have been terminated, Gore recommends the assembly should, at the minimum, be verified for proper wiring and continuity, and it should be checked for shorts. You may be required to complete additional testing by local authorities and/or end-users.
